2023 in Review: Our Small Business Impact
Dear friends and customers,
As we close out the year, I find myself reflecting on all the highs and lows of growing this small business. One thing is for certain: I could not have done it without you. Your support and loyalty constantly reminds me to keep going and keep growing. Every single one of your purchases, likes, comments, and shares has reinforced my passion and dedication for this dream of mine.
As a new, self-funded small business, breaking into the category is incredibly daunting. Getting access to and traction in big sales channels, negotiating contracts with reputable manufacturers, and earning awareness and trust from customers like you is hardest the smaller and newer you are. Given these obstacles, I’m so proud of just how much progress we’ve made.
Here are a few highlights from the year:
We spared 8,000 plastic bottles from entering our waste systems, landfills and waterways.
We donated 1% of all sales to support reforestation efforts through 1% for the Planet.
We offset 100% of shipping emissions from online orders.
We launched an expanded hair care collection including 6 unique shampoo and conditioner bars.
We completed an important step in finalizing our year-long trademark process.
We attended 18 days of tradeshows and markets in Chicago, New York City, and Denver.
We appeared in publications like The Good Trade, E! News Online, Beauty News NYC, Beauty Matters and more.
Next up, we launch in Urban Outfitters online this January!
They’ll be bringing our full assortment of shampoo and conditioner bars to Urban Outfitters shoppers. We’re so appreciative of their support of our sustainable small business, and their willingness to bring plastic-free hair care into the mainstream.
We have more big moves planned for 2024, and we’re ready to face the year with resilience and optimism. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Here’s to a brighter new year, and many more shared moments of progress.
